Doggone It, Bring the Dog Home

Sgt. Gwen Beberg of Minnesota is scheduled to return from Iraq in the coming weeks but there is one thing she does not want to leave behind, her dog Ratchet. Beberg rescued the dog from a trash dump in Baghdad and the two have been tight ever since.

As it turns out, the Army is pretty strict on their animal adoption policy but they did make an exception in allowing Sgt. Beberg to house the dog in Iraq.Now she wants to bring Ratchet home to Minnesota, against the Army’s wishes. Her Congressman Keith Ellison is now involved, asking the Army to review its animal adoption policy and this case in particular.
