Verizon Deal One Step Closer to Approval
Oct 31, 2008The Justice Department has approved the Verizon buyout of Alltel, with some stipulations; requiring Verizon to divest assets in 100 areas in 22 states before the deal goes down…the reason says Tom Bartlett, a lawyer for the Feds, is to protect consumers against the possibility of higher prices and poor service. The FCC must approve the Verizon deal as well, they are expected to meet and vote on the matter as early as next week.
