Harding Volleyball to Meet 15th Ranked West Florida in GSC Semifinals
Nov 17, 2008The Harding volleyball team takes on 15th ranked West Florida Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference tournament. Harding defeated West Alabama 3-2 Friday night to advance to the Semifinals.
Harding (24-8 overall) holds a 3-0 record against West Florida (27-7 overall). The last time the two teams have met was in the 2006 GSC tournament when Harding defeated West Florida 3-0.
Harding is led by junior outside hitter Manuela Nesheva who is averaging 4.60 kills per set ranking her second in the GSC and third in NCAA Division II. Nesheva also averages 2.63 digs per set. Senior middle blocker Shellie Rummer leads the team in attack percentage with .310. Senior setter Leah Tepe, Harding's all-time assists leader, averages 11.08 assists per set ranking second in the GSC.
West Florida, the number one seed in the GSC West Division, has five players that average over 2.0 kill per set. Leading the way is Chelsea Wilhoite who is averaging 3.07 kills per set. The West Florida defense is led by Jerica Carter who is averaging 3.43 digs per set.
