U.S. Would Pay For Satellite Damage
Feb 19, 2008Preparations are underway to shoot down the rouge US spy satellite before it crashes to earth. The Pentagon says there is an 80 percent chance the operation will be successful, however in case the operation fails, the United States says it will pay for any damage caused by the satellite crashing to earth.
US Ambassador Christina Rocca says“…the U.S. is prepared to offer assistance to governments to mitigate the consequences of any satellite debris impacts on their territory."
