City Council Elections
Members of the City Council of the City of Searcy, Arkansas, are elected to two year terms, with elections taking place in even-numbered years. Having moved to non-partisan elections, no primary election will be held for these offices and properly nominated candidates will face off during the general election, held on November 8, 2012. The City of Searcy is divided into four (4) wards, each having two seats on the council.
The City of Searcy has confirmed with the White County Clerk, Marquita Teague, that candidates for seats on the Searcy City Council should file nominating petitions with her office, located at 315 North Spruce Street, Searcy, Arkansas, on the west side of the historic Searcy court square, on or before 12:00, noon, on May 21, 2012. These petitions can be filed with the County Clerk beginning Tuesday, May 1, 2012.
These nominating petitions must include the signatures of not less than thirty (30) electors of the ward in which a candidate seeks office. A ward map is available at City Hall, located at 401 West Arch Avenue, Searcy, Arkansas. Nominating petitions for candidates are available in the office of the White County Clerk.
