SFD Helping to Keep Elderly Safe in Extreme Heat The Searcy Fire Department will be collecting fans for low-income seniors and families this summer. Please bring new fans to your nearest fire station or the The Lightle Senior Center at 2200 E. Moore in Searcy. You may also purchase fans at Ace Hardware, Lowes Home Improvement, Family Dollar and Dollar General stores and leave the fans there for pick up by the SFD. The fans purchased will be dispersed through the Lightle Center, Community Action Program for Central Arkansas (CAPCA) and various other charitable organizations. Cash donations may be brought to the Searcy Fire Department central station at 501 W. Beebe-Capps Expy. and will be tax-deductible through the SFD Ladies Auxiliary, a 501c3 organization. The Searcy Fire Department reminds you that heat-related illnesses can be serious and life threatening. Be sure to drink plenty of water or electrolyte-enriched liquids. Stay away from drinks that are carbonated, have alcohol, caffeine or lots of sugar. Wear lightweight, light-colored and loose fitting clothing. And NEVER leave anyone in a closed, parked car. For more information or other ways you can stay safe this summer, please contact the Searcy Fire Department at 501-279-1066.
