BEEBE, Ark. – Arkansas State University-Beebe and the Office of Career Services invites students, alumni, and community members to participate in the Career-Ready Summer Series each Wednesday in July from 12 p.m.-1 p.m.
The Career-Ready Summer Series is designed to help job seekers find employment and employers identify quality job candidates. The series will be presented in four one-hour Zoom sessions, which include topics, such as job search strategies, cover letters and resumes, interview skills, and understanding compensation packages.
On July 7, Robert Ellis, a Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC) at the University of Arkansas, will be the guest presenter for “Job Search Strategies: Learn How to Maximize Your Search Efforts.” Having completed the extensive certification program of the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches, he earned a Master of Arts from the University of Arkansas and two undergraduate degrees from Southern Arkansas University. Ellis teaches English and career literacy courses and serves as a lecturer, career coach, and employer relations coordinator at the university.
Then, on July 14, Jason Henry, ASU-Beebe Director of Student Engagement, will present “Cover Letters and Resumes: Discover the Art to Writing Cover Letters and Resumes.” Jason Henry also serves as the Global Career Development Facilitator, teaching students career-readiness skills for entry-level employment after earning their degree or credential. He is active in several career services professional organizations, including serving as the current president of the Arkansas Association of Colleges and Employers.
On July 21, Robyn Williams, Associate Director of Career Services-Cooperative Education at the University of Central Arkansas, will present “The Art of the Interview: Explore the Art of Telling Your Story to Land the Job.” Within her role, Williams develops and implements student development programs, assists students with job exploration and supervises professional staff and student employees. Robyn also teaches career exploration and freshman seminar courses at UCA.
The final session will be held July 28, with Teri Roper, ASU-Beebe Director of Human Resources, who will present “Decoding the Benefits Package: Learn the Basics of Employment Compensation Packages.” In her role, she works with employees to develop the skills and knowledge needed in the workplace. She is passionate about students becoming successful both personally and professionally. In addition to the day-to-day operations of ASU-Beebe Human Resources Department, Roper volunteers to assist students in career preparation.
