SEARCY, Ark.– If you’ve ever found yourself scrolling through Pinterest, scanning ideas for a unique woodworking project you could do yourself, look no further. Searcy’s first do-it-yourself woodworking experience, Whispering Wood Studios, opens in downtown this March.
Whispering Wood Studios is a DIY woodworking shop designed to be a fun place for everyone from beginners to experienced woodworkers, alike, to create exciting and creative works of art.
Owners Donna and Tim Cleveland are Searcy natives who have been woodworking for years. The two saw a need in town for something unique to do and decided to share their passion with others.
“Through this past year, we’ve learned that a lot of people are wanting to do DIY workshops,” said Donna. “We want other people to enjoy having fun coming and doing something together. We want to bring some fun into Searcy.”
Anticipation is already building for the new local business. Within the first 24 hours of their Facebook page being up, Whispering Woods received over 250 follow requests. Messages have even started pouring in asking how soon appointments can be scheduled.
Donna says she is hoping for the studio to become a local hangout spot.
“It will have projects for couples to do, it’ll be a place to have a birthday party, it’ll be a place to have a wedding shower, it’s going to be for business team building projects,” said Donna. “It’s going to be a place that anyone can come to relax, have fun, and enjoy being in each other’s company.”
Some of the main types of projects that Whispering Wood will offer include farmhouse signs, rustic frames, growth rulers for children, coffee trays and many more creative home décor options.
For those of you who don’t want to get your hands dirty, you can even send in ideas of your own, such as Pinterest designs, wedding vows and favorite verses or quotes to be custom-made. You can also purchase pre-made items at their “walk-in” section of the store.
Tim and Donna’s driving force in business has always been their faith, as Donna affirms “We are a strong Christian couple and we just feel like God is leading us into doing something together that we can enjoy together.” They feel very blessed with this opportunity. “God has opened up a big door for us,” Donna exclaims.
The much-anticipated Searcy hotspot, Whispering Wood Studios, is set to open on Saturday, March 2, 2019 on Spring St. in Downtown Searcy. Check out their Facebook page for more information.
