SEARCY, Ark. – Center on the Square, Searcy’s local theatre, has opened registrations for the second session of Virtual KidsStage.

Kidstage is the theatre’s kids’ theatre that features multiple productions a year. It was forced to go virtual for their first Spring session due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the state regulations put in place to try and curb the spread of the virus.

This session will feature two age groups performing two different shows. The Littles — for kids in 3rd- 6th grade — will be performing ‘Symbiotic Relations’ written by Dylan Treadwell which will explore the possibilities of what could happen when a teacher vanishes off the teaching screen, and how to get her back.

The Bigs — for kids in 7th-12th grade —  will be performing ‘The Monologue Show’ written by Don Zolidis. The show follows a messy group of kids in a drama class that suddenly switches to an online performance.

Enrollment for both groups is open now and ends at 5 p.m. on June the 16th. It includes a $35 enrollment fee.

In order to participate, every child must have access to the following; a device with a camera and microphone, Google Meet, Google Classroom that is not linked to a school account, Internet access, and an individual or a device to help record the audition and performance.

The groups’ performances will be recorded separately. The Littles are asked to use Google Meet while the Bigs must record themselves then submit that recording.

For those interested, you can sign-up for The Littles group here and The Bigs group here.

The performances will be streamed on Friday, July 17th and Saturday, July 18th. Tickets for each performance will be available on Center on the Square’s website the week leading up to the streaming of the shows.
