SEARCY, Ark. – El Puente Hispanic Services Center hosted its first community baby shower on Sunday, February 27. The Center plans to host one every four months in an effort to assist local Spanish speakers who are expecting a baby, close to their due date, according to Ruth Simpson, executive director.

“The purpose is to host a shower to make these ladies feel special and loved,” Simpson said.  “It’s so much more than just giving them baby supplies. The Center was beautifully decorated for the shower and all the gifts were wrapped. We enjoyed cupcakes and punch, and even had a demonstration on how to change a diaper and swaddle a baby.”

El Puente receives donations from local individuals and businesses to make the shower happen.
