SEARCY, AR –There’s a new place in Searcy to furnish your home thanks to Searcy natives, Keith and Sherry Roberson. The couple recently opened K & S Home Furnishings in downtown Searcy.

After working in the furniture business for over 30 years, Keith decided it was time to pursue his dream of owning his own storefront. When the time came to find a property, Roberson knew exactly what he wanted; the old Save-A-Lot building at 306 W. Race Ave., on the northwest edge of downtown Searcy.

“I actually had been looking at this building but didn’t know who owned it. I knew it was in really bad shape but knew it could be a unique property.” Roberson said. “I found out who owned the building, which is Mr. George Carter here in town, I approached him about what I would like to see done and we teamed up and came to an agreement on a lease.”

Roberson said that a lot of elbow grease and time went into the renovations of the newly owned building but slowly started to see his vision become a reality.

“Me and my wife Sherry are excited about (our business) being here in town,” said Roberson. “ I’m also excited about being downtown with all of the beautification of downtown and there’s a lot of things happening downtown.”

He said that a lot of his inspiration came from visiting cities like Little Rock, and seeing old buildings turned into businesses and apartments. He wanted to bring something similar to Searcy and thought downtown would be the perfect place to plant his new business.

“We’ve been open for 10 days and it’s been fantastic,” said Roberson. “We had a fantastic welcoming so far and we’re just excited about what’s going to happen and what’s going to take place.”

K & S Home Furnishings is now officially open after holding a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Sept. 29 at 11:00 a.m. For more information on the new business, visit their Facebook page.
